Clarendon School District 1 monthly board meeting

SUMMERTON - The Clarendon School District 1 board meeting will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom conference call. To join live, call 1-929-205-6099, meeting ID: 540 758 7290, https://zoom.us/j/5407587290.

The agenda will be available at www.clarendon1.k12.sc.us and at the district office, 12 S. Church St., Summerton.

Plant sale is April 30, May 1

MANNING - The Clarendon County Master Gardeners will hold their annual plant sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 30 and 8 a.m. to noon on May 1.

The sale will be held in the area in front of the gazebo on Keitt Street across from the Land, Parker and Welch Law Firm.

Annuals, perennials, pass-along plants, shrubbery, vegetable plants and tomato plants including heirloom varieties will be on sale. Stan McKenzie, the "Citrus Man," will have citrus trees for sale.

COVID-19 precautions are being observed. Individuals are asked to wear face masks and to social distance.

Heroes League Baseball registration ends April 30

CLARENDON COUNTY - The Clarendon County Recreation Department is holding registration for its Heroes League Baseball program.

The Heroes League will be for children with disabilities and special needs.

Registration will end on April 30.

The registration fee is $20 for children ages 3 and older.

Chicken Bog Dinner Fundraiser is May 3

SUMMERTON - A chicken bog dinner fundraiser will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on May 3 at Summerton Baptist Church, 215 Main St., to support Marion Walker's bid for Woman of the Year for the Midlands Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Free COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held on May 4

SUMMERTON - The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is sponsoring a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic on May 4 at Taw Caw Community Center, 1126 Granby Lane.

To register for the clinic, call 1-866-365-8110 or visit https://cvas.dhec.sc.gov.

All South Carolinians ages 18 and up are eligible for the clinic. The clinic is being offered by appointment only. No walk-ins will be allowed.
