Recreation Department fall sports registration underway
CLARENDON COUNTY  — Registration for the Clarendon County Recreation Department soccer, tackle football, flag football, girls volleyball and golf will be held now through Aug. 18.
Registration at the Manning office at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road, will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Registration at the Turbeville office at Smith Field, 1380 Gamble St., will be accepted from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Children can also be registered online at https://clarendon.recdesk.com/Community/Home.

Journey to Recovery Celebration
to be held on Saturday, Sept. 30
MANNING — Clarendon Behavioral Health Services is hosting Journey to Recovery Celebration — Getting to YOUR Finish Line from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Weldon Auditorium and the Clarendon County Community Complex gymnasium, 7 Maple St.
Sponsors for the event will include the John Landon Black Foundation, Clarendon County Sheriff's Department, Manning Police Department and others.
There will be a 5K Run/Walk, car show, food, food trucks, music, vendors, resources and door prizes.

Celebrate National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on Aug. 4 at CCMH
MANNING  — Happy National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day will be celebrated from noon to 1 p.m. today with a drive-through cookie giveaway at Clarendon County Mental Health, 215 Commerce St. Nine sponsors are participating in the event with volunteers and donations of chocolate chip cookies.

2023 Duckfest set for Oct. 7
SUMMERTON — Mark the 2023 Duckfest on your calendar for Oct. 7.
Leading up to the big event, a golf tournament will be held Sept. 23; Miss Duckfest on Sept. 24; and a fishing tournament on Sept. 30.
On Oct. 7, events will include the Ultimate Air Dogs Demonstration, Cornhole Tournament, Dog Retrieving Demonstration, Cook Off, Car Show, Run, and Clarendon County Fire Rescue Demonstration.

HCCL hosts Summer Reading Fun Fair on Aug. 5
MANNING — The Harvin Clarendon County Library will host its Summer Reading Fun Fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in the gymnasium, located directly behind Weldon Auditorium.
HCCL has partnered with The Citizens Bank and Bank of Clarendon to present the fair.
The library will be awarding its Summer Reading raffle prizes at the event.
The Hartsville Bubble Guy will be there as well as Todd's Twisted Balloons. There will be popcorn, cotton candy and face painting.

HopeHealth Golf Classic to be held on Nov. 16
MANNING — Save the Date of Nov. 16, 2023, for the HopeHealth Golf Classic which will be held at the Wyboo Golf Club, 2565 Players Course Drive.
The tournament will be a four-man captain's choice tournament. Sponsorships are available.

'Let's Read Clarendon' presents Last Summer Read on Aug. 16
NEW ZION— "Let's Read Clarendon" will present the Last Summer Read from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Walker Gamble Park, 2358 Walker Gamble Road.
The program is sponsored by The University of South Carolina Press through Carolina Family Engagement Center.
Children's author Melinda Long will be reading from her book "Art Smart Science Detective" as well as signing copies of her book. The first 30 attendees will receive a free signed copy of Long's book.
