Clarendon County offices closed Jan. 2

CLARENDON COUNTY – All Clarendon County governmental offices will be closed Jan. 2 in observance of New Year’s Day.
The offices will reopen on Jan. 3 for normal business hours.

 Interstate 95 exit 115 entrance ramp North bound closed

RAM BAY – The entrance ramp onto Interstate 95 at exit 115 is closed for northbound traffic.

Until further notice, all traffic headed north on I-95 exit 115 must use alternate routes.

Clarendon County Council hosts swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 3

MANNING - Clarendon County Council is hosting a swearing-in ceremony for three members of council at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 3, 2023, in the Clarendon County Council Chambers, 411 Sunset Drive.

Council members being sworn in are: Billy G. Richardson, who represents District 1; the Rev. William J. Frierson, who represents District 2; and Pat Coker, who represents District 3.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.

St. Matthias Anglican Church Annual Oyster Roast is Jan. 28

SUMMERTON - St. Matthias Anglican Church has tickets on sale now for its annual oyster roast that begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 28, 2023, at Flowers Farm Tomato Shed on K.W. Hodge Road, off U.S. 301 south of Manning.

Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased from church members.

Historically, the event is a sell-out, so get your tickets now. They would make great Christmas gifts.

The oyster roast features delicious steamed oysters, but it also has barbecue, soups, dessert and much more.

'American Pickers' visiting the Clarendon area in February 2023

CLARENDON COUNTY - The 'American Pickers' TV show on the History Channel will be visiting the Midlands of South Carolina in February 2023 looking for "interesting characters with fascinating items and lots of them."

The show is looking for large, rare collections and antiques.
