Help Gertrude Gardner celebrate her 100th birthday by joining parade, sending card

NEW ZION - The folks of New Zion are hosting a birthday parade for Gertrude Gardner's 100th birthday.

The drive-by birthday party parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the New Zion United Methodist Church, 7169 Salem Road. Folks are encouraged to decorate their cars, trucks, golf carts, bicycles, even tractors.

Birthday cards can be mailed to Ms. Gertude Gardner, PO Box 16, New Zion SC 29111.

OverComers' Celebration Sept. 19

MANNING - The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office in partnership with Clarendon County Cancer OverComers is hosting the second-annual OverComers' Drive-Thru Celebration from 9-11 a.m. Sept. 19 at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road.

Free take-out meals will be handed out while supplies last.

All participants are asked to wear masks and not to leave their vehicles.

Walk T-shirts and hats are on sale. Contact Sgt. Annett Smith to purchase your shirt or hat or to donate toward the celebration at (803) 460-9376 or (803) 435-4414.

The proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts and hats will go to the Clarendon County Cancer OverComers' organization.

Manning Farmers Market open Saturdays

Locally grown vegetables, fruit and plants are usually available.

Businesses can join Chamber campaign

MANNING - The Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce is promoting businesses throughout the county through its "Going Green for Prosperity and Growth" campaign. To be a part of the campaign, contact the Chamber at (803) 435-4405 or email chamber@clarendoncounty.com and a Chamber staff or board member will drop off a sign to display in the window of your business and a green bow. A photo will be taken of you with your sign and posted on social media.

Chamber is accepting award nominations

MANNING - The Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for Business Person of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Ambassador of the Year.

The annual awards are sponsored by Bank of Clarendon, Farmers Telephone Cooperative and George and Carole Summers, respectively.

Duckfest T-shirts are on sale

SUMMERTON - The T-shirts for 2020 Summerton Duckfest are on sale.

Short-sleeve T-shirts in sizes small to extra large are $15 each. Short-sleeve T- shirts in sizes 2X and larger are $18 each. Long-sleeve T-shirts are $25.

The T-shirts can be purchased at Summerton Drugs, Ginger's Flower Shop and Summerton Hardware.

Carolinas Bass Challege Tournament Sept. 12

SUMMERTON - The Carolinas Bass Challenge Marshall's Marine Santee Cooper Qualifier will be held Sept. 8-11 at John C. Land III Fishing Facility, 4404 Greenall Road, Summerton.

JCMC-Haven of Rest Golf Tournament Sept. 12

MANNING - The Jordan Crossroads Ministries Center - Haven of Rest will hold its second annual golf tournament fundraiser beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 12 at The Players Course at Wyboo, 1560 Players Course Drive.

A hole-in-one contest will be held with the golfer who aces the hole receiving the keys to a 2020 Ford Ecosport SUV.
