CLARENCE L. SIMS

Clarence Lonnie Sims, 84, husband of Elizabeth Matthews Sims, passed away at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010.

Born Nov. 6, 1925, in Clarendon County, he was the son of the late Walter Dudley and Julia Druccila Baird Sims. He was first married for 56 years to the late Bertie Lee Sims. He was retired from Korn Industries in Sumter, a member of Clarendon Church of God, and attended True Way Holiness Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of Manning, are two sons, James Walter Sims and Ronald Lonnie Sims of Manning; two daughters, Margie Lowder and Frances A. Hodge of Manning; two stepsons, Walter Matthews Jr. of Texas and Thomas Legrande Matthews of Columbia; two sisters, Rosa Lee Moore of Manning and Myrtle Lee Ackerman of Scranton.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Gayle Clark.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. William Kevin Cribb officiating.

Burial followed at Foreston Cemetery.
