City of Sumter tire buyback event is Saturday

The City of Sumter and PalmettoPride will host a tire buyback event on Saturday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sumter County Civic Center, 700 W. Liberty St.

The event is open to all Sumter residents, but no businesses can participate. Sumter residents can receive $2 for each tire brought in for recycling.

There will be a limit of 20 tires, and the tires must be without rims. A valid South Carolina ID is required.

The next community litter cleanup day is April 22, which is also Earth Day. The city will provide trash pickup supplies and bag pickup after the event. Sign up to volunteer at https://bit.ly/3n2nQQ4.
