Church Women United of the Greater Sumter Area announces:

* Thursday, Jan. 19 - Annual meeting / Human Rights Day Celebration "A Call to Act" at 3 p.m. at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1093 Oswego Highway. Rep. J. David Weeks, D-Sumter, will speak.

* Today - Food Pantry giveaway beginning at 1 p.m. while supplies last.

Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 803 S. Harvin St., announces:

* Sunday, Jan. 22 - The internationally acclaimed African Children's Choir will perform at 5 p.m. The "Just As I Am" tour combines traditional hymns with African cultural sounds with a visual story of God's faithfulness. A free-will offering will be collected at the performance to support African Children's Choir programs, such as education, care and relief and development programs.
