CHERYL RENEE STRICKLAND PREAST

Cheryl Renee Strickland Preast, 41, beloved wife of Anthony Shane Preast, died on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, at her residence.

Born in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of Mary Katherine Hilebert Strickland and Michael Lee Strickland. Cheryl raised four children of her own and three other children as they were her own. She accomplished two years of college and five years of accounting. She took tax preparer classes and worked at H&R Block. She did for all her friends, children and strangers as they were her own. Cheryl wrapped presents for The Salvation Army at Christmas time, cleaned the Boys and Girls Club and boxed gifts for needy children. She was awarded Parent of the Year from Rubye J. Johnson Head Start for two years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by four children, Ryan Davis Busques (Caroline Leomonda) and Benjamin Angelo Busques, both of Sumter, and Winston Demos Busques and Thomas Shane Basques, both of Manning; two daughters, Brittany Leona Busques (Deven Villeda) and Katherine Elizabeth Preast, both of Sumter; one adopted niece, Kylie Renee Childers of Sumter; one brother, Benjamin Michael Strickland (Jenny) of Lake City; one sister, Michele Strickland Hardee (Randolph) of Sumter; and nine grandchildren, Madison Busques, Chloe Grace Busques, Hayden Davis Busques, Azilee Busques, Adalyn Renee Villeda, Connor Busques, McKenley L. Busques, Maddy Busques and Sophia Busques.

She was preceded in death by her aunt, Leona Bryan.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bullock Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Preast, Lawrence Preast, Jacob Hodge, Brian Hodge, Randolph Hardee and Matthew Hodge.

Honorary pallbearer will be Noah Hodge.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at Bullock Funeral Home.
