Cherryn Ann Hunter, affectionately known as "Shay," was born on March 16, 1970, in Sumter County, to Charlie Hunter Jr. and the late Annie Mae Richardson Hunter. She died on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021.

She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed at Carolina Pines of Shaw Air Force Base for 22 years, until her health failed.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a son, Christopher Hunter (Crystal); her father, Charlie Hunter Jr.; two brothers, Charles Hunter and John Hunter; one sister, Mary Hunter Parrott (James); sister-in-law, Lavern Bryant; three grandchildren; one uncle, Council Hunter; four aunts, Alice Mitchell, Jessie Mae Hunter, Lynn Hunter and Odessa Hunter; two great-aunts, Josephine Spencer and Jessie Haile; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 3560 Sycamore Drive, Dalzell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Elder Michael Diggs officiating.

The procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Churchyard Cemetery, U.S. 521 North, Rembert.
