CHARLES E. WELCH

Charles Edward Welch, 66, husband of Virginia Ruth Lineberger Welch, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late James Carson and Mae Goodman Welch. Mr. Welch was a retired machinist with Cooper Tools.

Survivors besides his wife of the home include a son, Charles Edward Welch Jr. of Ridgeville; a stepdaughter, Karen Hudson of Sumter; two stepsons, Gary Armstrong and Jeffrey Smith, both of Stanley, N.C.; a brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Welch of Marion; five sisters, Annie Rae DuBose, Lois Ann Dubose and Mary (Alex) Welch, all of Turbeville, Doris (Carroll) Altman and Carolyn (Randall) McGee, both of Timmonsville; and 10 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, J.C. Welch, Dupree Welch, Jackson Welch, Bonnie Welch and Curtis Welch; and one sister, Willie Mae Thames.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Sept. 11, at the funeral home.

The family received friends at the home, 960 Parsons Lane.
