Catherine "Ren" Calhoun Hilton, of 1075 Acorn Lane in Manning, died July 3 at her home.

Born April 11, 1959, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Mason and Julia Johnson Calhoun. Catherine graduated from Manning High School and F.E. Dubose Career Center. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Bloomville community. She was employed with the Clarendon County Disabilities & Special Needs Board for a number of years.

Survivors besides her husband, John L. Hilton, of Manning, include four sons, Anthony T. Calhoun and AnQuan S. Hilton, both of Manning, Randy R. Calhoun (Jalisa) of Seattle, Wash., and Brandon K. Hilton of Columbia; two daughters, Aneesha (Richard) Nelson of Sumter and Lateefah Calhoun Frierson of Columbia; three brothers, William Calhoun and Jessie Calhoun, both of Manning, and Mitchell Calhoun of Sumter; four sisters, Vermell (James) Mouzon of Decatur, Ga., Dorsena Walker of Manning, Gloria Reynolds of Richmond, Va., and Nora Penny (Jack) Chandler of Manning; mother-in-law, Elease Hilton of Manning; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Antayzah, Laneesha, Sanaa and Johnatha; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Rena Ballard, Hester Richardson, Joe M. Hilton (Margaret), Joseph Hilton (Theresa), Johnny Hilton (Clara), Emma Murray (Robert), Betty Dukes (Maurice) and Charlotte Smith.

She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Calhoun; and two brothers, Mason Calhoun Jr. and Jousha Smith.

Funeral services were held July 8 at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. David Pugh, pastor, officiating.

The family received friends at the home.

RONALD McFADDEN

Ronald McFadden, 48, died June 24 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami, Fla.

Born Aug. 1, 1961, in Alcolu, he was a son of Thomas McFadden and Mable Williams McFadden Taylor and was raised by his grandparents, the late David and Rachel B. Williams. He attended Clarendon County publilc schools. After moving to Miami, he became a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors besides his parents include a son, Demetrick Lloyd McFadden of Manning; a daughter, Rhonda Pringle of Cincinnati, Ohio; a grandson, D'Mari Kennedy of Manning; a brother, Alonzo Marion Williams of Philadelphia, Pa.; and two sisters, Dianne (Robert Lee) Mathis of Manning and Anita (Jimmy) Taylor Germain of Queens, N.Y.

Funeral services were held July 3 at Cypress Fork AME Church, 5994 Brewington Road, Alcolu, with the Rev. Dr. Leroy Green officiating. Burial was held in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at 7834 Juneburn Road, Alcolu.
