PINEWOOD - Carrie Lee "Dorothy" Canty, 60, died May 29, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born April 11, 1950, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Purlease Crosby Canty. She attended Clarendon County public schools.

Survivors include two sons, Isham (Helen) Canty of Pinewood and Stanley Canty of Thomasville, N.C.; a daughter, Bridges (Kenneth) Riley of Pinewood; a sister, Ida Mae Canty of Thomasville; a special cousin, James Harvin of Pinewood; an uncle, John (Mary) Canty of Summerton; 10 grandchildren, Rashaud, Shaquarius, Kendra, Jazzanaiye, Draquan, Emoni, Jabrelle, Kwnisha, Marcellus and Marquis; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerome K. Canty.

Funeral services were held June 5 at New Hope UME, Pinewood. Burial was in New Hope Community Cemetery, Pinewood.

Community Funeral Home of Sumter handled arrangements.

FANNIE DuBOSE

GABLE - Fannie Louise Wilson DuBose, 92, died June 1, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Charlotte.

Born in Blythewood, she was a daughter of the late Charles Dagnal and Katherine McLean Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Elsivan "F.E." DuBose Jr.

She was a graduate of Blythewood High School and Winthrop College and served as an elementary teacher with Salem-Black River and Clarendon District 3 school systems. She was an active member of Sardinia Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years and served as its historian until 2009. She was a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher.

Survivors include four children, Frank E. (Van) DuBose III and his wife, Eva DuBose, of Bath and London, England, Dr. David McLean DuBose and his wife, Mynel Yates DuBose, of Atlanta, Charles Wilson DuBose and his wife, Patricia Rayle DuBose, of Madison, Ga., and Mary DuBose Nash and her husband, Homer Byron Nash Jr., of Charlotte; grandchildren, Hunter Ryland DuBose and his wife, Jenny Hammarlund, of London, Brooke McLean DuBose of San Francisco, Dr. Alison DuBose Sturm and her husband, Dr. Jesse James Sturm, of Atlanta, Lauren Anne DuBose of Durham, N.C., Homer Byron Nash III and his wife, Amanda Whitten Nash, of Tega Cay, Sallie Nash Harrell and her husband, Steven Bennett Harrell, of Pleasant Garden, N.C., and Charles Wilson DuBose Jr., Margaret Louise Rayle DuBose and Frank Elsivan DuBose IV, all of Madison; two step-grandsons, Arthur Joshua Harris and Adam Yates Harris; a sister, Margaret Wilson Turner of Hendersonville, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held June 5 at Sardinia Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Sardinia-Gable Cemetery.
