CARL BECKWORTH GOODMAN

Carl Beckworth Goodman was born on July 15, 1959, in Sumter County, a son of the late Segars and Earline Grant Goodman. The Lord quietly and peacefully called him to eternal rest on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Carl received his education from the Sumter County public schools. At an early age, Carl attended church often to fellowship. He was employed with Carraway and Son for 40 years.

Carl leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Deatrice Young Goodman; two daughters, Adrienne (Candy) Johnson and Lakita (Sharell) Boyd, both of Sumter; three stepchildren that he raised as his own; six grandchildren; a special grandchild that he also raised as his own, ZyTeria Johnson; two sisters, Earline Porter and Lilly Goodman; three brothers, Freddie (Barbara) Goodman, James (Janie) Goodman and John Goodman; one uncle, Leroy Grant, all of Dalzell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 2615 Yank Haven Drive, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Bill Bennett presiding and Brother Aaron Johnson, eulogist.

The procession will leave the home at 11:20 a.m.

Burial will be at Ebenezer Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery, 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell.
