Campus Corner: Sumter, Clarendon and Lee county students excel at college

AIKEN - The University of South Carolina Aiken congratulates the following local students who finished their degree programs in December:

- Sumter - Sherilyn Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Mekeisha Gibbons earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Devin Grenville earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Desmond Pulliam earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; and Brian Todd earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration;

- Rembert - Brandi Benjamin earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Darius Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication; and

- Manning - Kendra Witherspoon earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Students enrolled full time, who maintain a GPA of at least a 3.5, are named to the Dean's List. The following local students were named to the Dean's List for Fall 2019:

- Sumter - Christina Boozer; Julia Carrigan; Devin Grenville; Jaymi Hipp; Valeen Jennings; Ian Martin; Anthony Narduzzi; Cynthia Norris; Derrick Raybon; and Brian Todd;

- Rembert - Brandi Benjamin and Darius Smith;

- Bishopville - Qu'Asia Oliver;

- Dalzell - Abigail Parker;

- Manning - Matthew Varn; Francine Washington; and Kendra Witherspoon.

WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY

SALT LAKE CITY - The following local residents have earned their degree from Western Governors University:

- Sumter - John Skelton II earned a Master of Business Administration degree; Vicki Towery earned a Master of Health Leadership degree; Austin Floyd earned a Master of Science, Management and Leadership degree; and Jaime Patterson earned a Master of Science, Curriculum and Instruction degree.

NEWBERRY COLLEGE

NEWBERRY - Newberry College announces the following local students qualified for the fall 2019 Dean's List:

- Sumter - David Bridges; Jalen Johnson; and Zackery Nash; and

- Manning - Sha'rya George; Nigel Johnson; and Sean Swaringer.

Students receiving recognition on the Dean's List had to achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the semester.
