Betty Lucille Parsons, 83, widow of Clyde J. “Jack” Parsons Jr., died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at her home.

Born on Aug. 3, 1937, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Robert Marion “Shank” Barkley and Ida Lucille Medlin Barkley. She retired from Sumter School District 2 after 17 years of service.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Parsons (Patricia) and Jerry Wayne Parsons, both of Sumter, and David Parsons (Lisa) of Manning; seven grandchildren, Ryan Parsons, Matthew Amerson, Joey Amerson, Jessica Parsons, Kevin Parsons (Tracy), Kimberly Blair (Brent Cramer) and Taylor Brooke Parsons; six great-grandchildren, Kinley, Brenley, Londyn, Caleb, Nathan and Hollie; siblings, Charles “Roy” Barkley (Billie), Dorothy Sanders, William “Bill” Barkley (Wanda) and Gloria Jean Hudnall (John), all of Sumter; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Barkley of Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye Parsons Amerson; a granddaughter, Nikki Parsons; and twin great-granddaughters, Anna Leah and Haley Grace.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sammy Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Keith Oakley, Bill Gibson, Roger Berberich, Brent Cramer, Tim Hudnall and Kody Dunson.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
