Bertha Walker Miller, 87, widow of Elgvan Miller, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

She was born Sept. 14, 1923, in the Live Oak section of Clarendon County, a daughter of the late Elijah Sr. and Callie T. Wilson Walker. She attended Clarendon County public schools. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior, and joined Lane Chapel AME Church. She later joined Trinity AME Church, where she loved worshiping the Lord.

Survivors include six sons, Roosevelt Miller and Carl Miller, both of Columbia, Johnny (Dythian) Miller of Brooklyn, N.Y., Marvin (Priscilla) Miller of Manning, Sammy L. Miller of Hephzibah, Ga., and Earnest (Jane) Miller of Sumter; seven daughters, Elizabeth (Lee) Fullwood of Leland, N.C., Jannette (Lawrence) Hilton of the home, Annette Miller of Queens, N.Y., Margie Miller of Columbia, Gladys Miller of Hopkins, Roxie (William) House of Sumter and Deloris (Jerome) Gibbs of Vance; one sister-in-law, Martha Miller; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Trinity AME Church, 39 W. Rigby St., Manning, with the Rev. Dr. James Stukes, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Deloris Gerow, presiding, assisting the Rev. Willie Wright, the Rev. Dr. Leon Winn, the Rev. Dr. Bennie Colclough, the Rev. David Lawson and the Rev. Mary Rosettagon. Burial followed at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.

The family received friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jannette and Lawrence Hilton, 1093 Moorer St., Manning.
