A man wanted in Bennettsville on accusations of shooting two people Tuesday morning was found dead of apparent suicide in a Sumter County motel.

His vehicle was located at a motel on U.S. 15 North after the Bennettsville Police Department advised the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office a suspect shot a woman and a man early Tuesday and fled to Sumter County. According to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff’s office, the Sumter agency issued warrants for his arrest after the incident on two counts of attempted murder.

When his vehicle was located at the motel, the sheriff’s office called its SERT team and negotiation team to respond. Upon arrival and before making contact, deputies heard a gunshot.

They found Jadarious Taylor deceased when they made entry into the room. It appeared he had shot himself.

Bennettsville police has been advised of the situation, and Taylor’s family has also been notified of his death.
