BARBARA KAY MICHAEL HOLMAN

On Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, the family of Barbara Kay Michael Holman bid her a sad but grateful farewell. Sad for her expected departure, but grateful for the privilege of sharing her beautiful life.

Lovely in face and form, character, charm and grace, she was the embodiment of a true lady. She treated everyone she encountered with kindness, courtesy and respect. She was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, who enjoyed caring for, cultivating and creating a beautiful, warm and inviting home for her family and friends. She nurtured and fostered the kind of environment that enabled all around her to live "a well-lived life."

On Sept. 1, 1941, she was born in Lexington, North Carolina, to Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland McCall Michael (Elsie) and was an eighth-generation native of Davidson County. There, she met her future husband, H. Roger Holman, on a blind date, and they were married for 64 wonderful years.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Barbara Deneen Bonner (Randy) of Sumter, Chad Wilson Holman (Keith Traxler) of Atlanta and Cleve Damon Holman of South Carolina. She is also survived by two adored grandchildren, Nicholas Blake Bonner (Tiffany) and Mattie Kay Scott (Brayden); and three great-grandchildren, Owen Thomas Scott, Lizzie Blake Bonner and Eli Michael Scott, all of Sumter.

The family wishes to thank those who showed her such great compassion and care in recent years; the talented and devoted Amedisys Hospice team, such dear neighbors and friends and most especially Sella Rhea Jordan.

According to her wishes, she was cremated and will be honored with a private family memorial at a future date.

"Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot."
