Attorney Katherine C. Scott Receives High Honor with Board Certification

Harris, Hunt & Derr, P.A. is pleased to announce that Katherine C. Scott has become Board Certified in Marital and Family law by the Florida Bar. Board certification is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar and displays an attorney’s competency and expertise in their specific area of law.

Ms. Scott, a partner at Harris, Hunt & Derr, P.A., has practiced exclusively in the area of marital and family law for over eight years. Experienced in litigating high-end cases with complex financial and parenting issues, Ms. Scott also focuses on the collaborative divorce process for settlement-oriented clients who want to resolve their disputes respectfully and privately, without going to court. In addition to divorce representation, Ms. Scott has considerable experience in handling cases involving post-judgment and contempt issues, domestic violence injunctions and drafting pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

Ms. Scott was selected as a 2017 Super Lawyers Rising Star in Family Law and is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, a rating which indicates a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. Ms. Scott will be the 2018-2019 Co-Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Collaborative Law Section, Vice Chair of The Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and Chair-Elect of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Family Law Section. Ms. Scott is a member of the Junior League of Tampa, participates annually in the Lawyers for Literacy program, and lectures at various CLE seminars around the Tampa and St. Petersburg areas.

Ms. Scott earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University and graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law.
