Attend drive-through dinner at Bethesda Church of God to help raise money for 2 Sumter deputies

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is missing two of its veteran deputies since they had to medically retire. To fundraise for them, they are holding a drive-through dinner at Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad St., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Robert Mitchum is battling the long-term effects of COVID-19, and Phillip Clark is fighting cancer. Both have been with the sheriff's office for more than 15 years and haven't been able to work since about February or March, a deputy said. Both work in the patrol division.

Whatever money is raised will be split evenly between the two.
