Arnold Lewis Boatright, 53, husband of Vanessa Ragin Boatright, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at his home, 101 Plantation Drive, Manning.

He was born April 15, 1957, in Manning, a son of the Rev. Acie Boatright and the late Ruth Martin Boatright. He attended Clarendon County public schools and continued his study of forestry procedures at the technical colleges of Williamsburg, Horry-Georgetown, Orangeburg, and through the continuing education department of Clemson Uninversity.

At an early age, he attended Light Hill Baptist Church and later he attended Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church. He was employed with J.C. Witherspoon Inc. for 37 years.

Survivors are his wife, Vanessa Ragin Boatright of the home; children, Aarron Boatright of the home, Roy Coard of Manning and Xavier Boatright of Clinton; father, the Rev. Acie Boatright of Columbia; five sisters, Esther Boatright, Ruth Boatright, Margine (Willie) Sills and Sarah Boatright, all of Columbia, and Mary Boatright of Jacksonville, Fla.; six brothers, Clarence Boatright, Fredrick Boatright, Acie (Fannie) Boatright and Jacob Boatright, all of Manning, Abraham Boatright of Fairfield and Joseph Boatright of Sumter; mother-in-law, Mary (Elder Wendell) Pearson of Manning; and father-in-law, Henry L. Ragin of Manning.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at the Matrix Center, 4648 Kingstree Highway, Manning, with Elder Renel Trevol, presiding, the Rev. Jonathan Mouzon, eulogist, assisted by Evangelist Wanda Nelson, the Rev. Arkus Frierson, the Rev. Effie Hilton and Pastor Edith Johnson. Burial followed in Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 101 Plantation Drive, Manning.
