DALZELL — Anthony “Andy” Hood, 73, widower of Lynda A. Hood, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at his home.

Born Dec. 15, 1951, in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Norman Hood and Margaret “Doll” Benenhaley Hood. Andy was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of Colston Branch Beagle Club and served as their field secretary for many years. He was very active in Sumter Relay for Life. He retired from S.C. Department of Corrections and was the owner of Andy’s Fireworks.

Survivors include siblings Larry Hood (Elaine) of Dalzell, Robbie Hood (Tammy) of Dalzell, Jimmy Hood (Lisa) of Lexington and Margaret Ann Conte (Mike) of Sumter; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frazier Hood.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Benenhaley, David Hood, Henry Benenhaley, Perry Benenhaley, Dean Benenhaley and Glenn Peagler.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Colston Branch Beagle Club.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
