Anne Watson Clark, 93, widow of Duane Norman Clark, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at Covenant Place.
Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Dr. W. Burke Watson and Kate Brogdon Watson.

After graduating from Winthrop College, she began her teaching career in Columbia. She and her husband later moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she taught for many years.

Upon retirement, they relocated in Boone, North Carolina, where she was a member of Brookside Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed all types of handwork, gardening, cooking and traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her niece, Kathy McElveen (Joe), and nephews, Burke Watson (Robin), Mike Watson and Kell Watson (Amber); a brother-in-law, Don Clark (Patty); numerous great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, W. Burke Watson Jr., and his wife, Jeanne C. Watson.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at Sumter Cemetery, with Dr. Lawrence C. Young officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Sandi White, Covenant Place, Dr. Mayes DuBose and Caris Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookside Presbyterian Church, 1122 Old US 421 South, Boone, NC 28607, or to Antioch Baptist Church, in care of Mike Watson, 772 W. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150.
