EASLEY - Anna Louise Johnson Burke, age 88, formerly of Alcolu, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Presbyterian Home of SC in Easley.

Born and raised in the Wilson community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Johnson and Maedell Bagnal Johnson. A graduate of Manning High School, she was a homemaker and a retired secretary-receptionist with Georgia-Pacific Corp. and a member of Clarendon Baptist Church in Alcolu.

Mrs. Burke is survived by three loving daughters, Brenda Mathis and her husband, Ernie, of Irmo, and Libby Burke and Gayle DeWitt and her husband, Chris, all of Easley; eight grandchildren, Brian Mathis and his wife, Kim, of Fort Mill, Brad Mathis and his wife, Elizabeth, of Columbia, Anna M. Miller and her husband, Eric, of Irmo, Megan DeWitt, Paige DeWitt, Kyle DeWitt and his wife, Michelle, of Greenville, Matthew DeWitt of Columbia and Holli Joyner and her husband, Sonny, of Pawley's Island; 10 great-grandchildren, Evan and Erin Mathis, Gavin Mathis, Taylor and Tyler Till, Katie Miller, Austin and Emerson Joyner and Caleb and Gabriel DeWitt; and a sister, Susie W. Melott of Manning.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alva Lamar Burke; a daughter, Vivian Louise Burke; two sisters, Mary Brewer and Ethel Johnson; and a brother, James McQueen Johnson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Clarendon Baptist Church in Alcolu with the Rev. Joseph Kirkland Carlisle and the Rev. Norman Rogers officiating. Burial followed at Sumter Cemetery.
