Allison Michelle Waddy-Presley, 54, was born on Nov. 6, 1965, in Lumpkin, Georgia, to the late Marion Waddy and Doris Mitchell-Crumbley. She transitioned on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Michelle attended the Stewart County School System, graduating from Stewart-Quitman High School with the Class of 1984. She attended Columbus Technical College in Columbus, Georgia, where she earned a degree in early childhood education. After graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She worked as a daycare counselor while living in Brooklyn. When she moved back to Georgia, she worked at Childcare Network in Columbus for many years. She later decided to become a certified nursing assistant, where she could show her neverending love and compassion to those she took care of and she did so until her health declined. At an early age, Michelle became a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Lumpkin. Later in her adult life, she moved her membership to Beulah AME Church, Sumter.

Surviving her departure with cherished memories: her husband, John Wayne Presley, and their daughter, Nea'Veh Michelle Presley of Sumter; her brothers, Marion Keith (Vickie) Waddy of Lumpkin and Greg Waddy of Jacksonville, Florida; mother-in-law, Loretta Prelesy of Brooklyn; one uncle, the Rev. Henry Marion (Vivian) Mitchell of South Russell, Ohio; three aunts, Mollie Ruth Mitchell of Brooklyn, Carrie Sumrall of Seale, Alabama, and Tee Dot of Lumpkin; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, family and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 53 Riley St., Sumter.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Friday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Joshua Dupree Jr. officiating.
