Allean Butler Jennings, widow of James McKeiver Jennings, was born on Sept. 24, 1926, to Sarah Butler. She departed this life on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter.

Mrs. Jennings loved working in her flower garden, sewing and attending church. She joined Mt. Olive AME Church at a very early age and was very active in church as a Sunday school scholar, a member of the women missionary society, stewardess board and usher board. She was also a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

She leaves to mourn her memory: two sons, James (Elsie) Jennings of Sumter and Tony (Clara) Jennings of California; three daughters, Katherine Brunson, Frances (Johnny) Ray and Sandra (Larry) Wilson, all of Woodrow; one special grandson, Barry Jennings of the home; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; special sons-in-law, Marion Brunson, Earl Brunson and William Pearson; a special foster nephew, William "Slim" Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 68 Pear St., Woodrow.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. R.L. Brown, pastor, and the Rev. Raymond L. Cook Jr. officiating.

The procession will leave the home at 1:40 p.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Woodrow.
