All students enrolled in Sumter School District eligible for free breakfast and lunch program, applications not required

Posted

Sumter School District is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision for the new school year, which provides an alternative to household applications for free and reduced-price meals in local educational agencies and schools with increased levels of low-income students. All students enrolled in the district may participate in the breakfast and lunch program at no charge to them. Families do not have to fill out meal applications.

Breakfast and lunch meals follow the United States Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. Students are encouraged to participate in the school meal programs.

For additional information, contact Sumter School Food Service Director Stacey Francis at (803) 499-5950.

Parents or guardians that do not want their child/children to participate in CEP may discuss the matter with Francis on an informal basis or can make a formal appeal in writing to Francis at PO Box 909, Dalzell, South Carolina 29040 for a hearing to appeal.
