Alice Drive Middle, Sumter High orchestras earn Performance GOLD Awards

Alice Drive Middle School Orchestra, top, under the direction of Michael Baier, and Sumter High School Honors Orchestra, under the direction of Erik Hines and Krystin Baier, earned the South Carolina Music Educators Association Outstanding Performance GOLD Awards for the 2022-23 school year. Less than 30 schools in the entire state qualified for this award. The Outstanding Performance Award is the highest achievement for orchestra programs in the state of South Carolina. To earn this award, the Alice Drive Middle School and Sumter High School Orchestra programs demonstrated a high level of proficiency in all areas of scholastic musicianship. Points were earned and accumulated through success in Region and All-State Orchestra, Concert Performance Assessment, and Solo and Ensemble.
