Funeral services for Addell Singleton Dicks will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Emmanuel United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dicks will be placed in the church for public viewing from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Palmer Memorial Chapel in Columbia.

Addell Singleton Dicks, widow of Willie Dicks Sr., departed this earthly life on Monday, June 27, 2022, in Columbia.

She was born in Sumter, to the late Willie and Georgianna Singleton. Addell was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. "Snook," as she was affectionately known, was baptized at an early age at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sumter. After marrying the love of her life, Willie Dicks Sr., she joined Emmanuel United Methodist Church. As a faithful member of Emmanuel, she served as president of the United Methodist Women Ministry, chairperson of evangelism, sang with the senior choir, was a communion steward and prayer band union member.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Willie F. Dicks Jr.; two sisters, Maggie Coats and Hester Loney; and one brother, Willie (Rock) Singleton.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. John (Beverly) Dicks Sr. of Columbia; a brother, Woodrow (Shirley) Singleton of Bronx, New York; granddaughters, Melissa Dicks, Keisha (Patrick) Ware, Adriene Dicks, Tomika (AnTwan) Brown and Kayla Dicks; one grandson, John (Keisha) Dicks Jr.; six great-grandchildren; a goddaughter, Selena (Leroy) Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
