SUMMERTON - A two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 south of Summerton in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 3, resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the two individuals as Mindy E. Cohen, 57, of New Jersey, and William Barnett, 64, of Florida.

According to Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 3:55 a.m. on I-95 northbound near mile marker 107 about one mile south of Summerton.

A 2017 Honda Accord driven by Cohen and a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Barnett were both traveling north on I-95 when the two vehicles collided and ran off the roadway to the right. The lone occupants of both vehicles are deceased, Tidwell said.

"This collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol with assistance from the South Carolina MAIT Team which stands for Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team," Tidwell added.
