WILLIE MAUDE S. JONES

Willie Maude Solesby Jones, 96, wife of Charles "Charlie" W. Jones, died on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at a local nursing facility.

Born on Dec. 10, 1921, in Glendale, she was a daughter of the late Jess and Nora Vess Solesby. Mrs. Jones was a member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene, where she served as choir director and taught the adult Bible class for many years. She attended Holmes Bible School in Greenville. Following her time at Holmes, she was an evangelistic singer, traveling throughout the state ministering in revivals. She retired from Campbell Soup Co. and Sumter School District 2.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years; two sons, Charles Wayne Jones (Christine Kodman-Jones) of Philadelphia and Barry A. Jones of Boston; two granddaughters, Kayla Jones and Ana Jones; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Solesby; and three sisters, Ruby Reese, Docia Bullington and Louise Fisher.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Sumter First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Sumter First Church of the Nazarene and other times at the home.
