The second-annual Summerton Duckfest will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in Summerton, "The Duck Capital of South Carolina."
First on the bill is the Berkeley Outdoors Fall Open Bass Tournament at the John C. Land III Sports Fishing Facility. Fishing begins at safe light, and weigh-in is at 3 p.m.
The entry fee is $100, with an optional fishing bag for $10. Entry forms are available at Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce, 19 N. Brooks St., Manning; Summerton Town Hall, 10 Main St., Summerton; Berkeley Outdoors locations; and at many bait and tackle shops. Guaranteed first-place prize in $5,000.
The Duck Cup Clay Shooting Tournament is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Featherhorn Farms, 7011 Gov. Richardson Road, Pinewood.
The Meat Style Duck Calling Contest is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Summerton. Entry fees are: Junior Meat Division (age 16 and under), $20; Open Meat Division, $25; and Open Main Street Division, $30.
Entry forms are available at Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce and Summerton Town Hall. More than $3,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
The Duckfest Parade will be on Main Street, Summerton, at 2:30 p.m. Entry fee is $25.
The Duckfest Cookoff is at 2:30 p.m. on Main Street, Summerton. Entry fee is $25. Tickets are $20 and include five voting tickets. Additional voting tickets are available for purchase.
Contest prizes will be awarded in downtown Summerton.
Duckfest will also include food and craft vendors, activities for kids and live entertainment in downtown Summerton.
