JCPenney is partnering with the Sumter County Veteran's Affairs office to giveaway 11 air conditioner units. Volunteers will leave the Sumter JCPenney parking lot with a truck full of air conditioners at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The truck will deliver the air conditioners to the veterans' homes. Valerie Brunson, director for the Veteran's Affairs of Sumter County, said the air conditioners will go to needy veterans. The air conditioners have already been designated to veterans after Brunson posted the offering at the seven organizations that exist under Veteran's Affairs of Sumter County, such as but not limited to: Purple Heart Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Brunson said there was no screening and the air conditioners were given on a first-come, first-served basis.
