TYSON MACK

Posted

Tyson "Coon" Mack was born on Dec. 19, 1972, in Cleveland, Ohio, the youngest son of Arnold Mack and the late Delores Anderson. He received his primary education in the public schools in Sumter County and was a 1992 graduate of Sumter High School, where he was a football standout. Tyson worked many years for North Carolina Central University.

Tyson was united in holy matrimony to his longtime love, Nakia McCleary-Mack. This union was blessed with one daughter, JaCarri Tykia Mack of Durham, North Carolina.

He was introduced to Jesus Christ at a young age at Church of God in Christ in Sumter. Tyson was a well-loved member of Faith Community Church in Durham.

After a well-fought battle, he took his rest on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.

His ever-present smile, fun-loving personality and his uncanny ability to encourage the least of us made him so well loved by many. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.

Mr. Mack leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Nakia McCleary-Mack; his only daughter, JaCarri Tykia Mack of Durham; his father, Arnold (Deloriese) Mack of Sumter; his sister, Calandra (Calvin) Carter of Sumter; his stepsisters, Shelia Branch and Denise Finnery of Philadelphia; stepbother, David Baker of Philadelphia; mother-in-law, Valarie McCleary of Sumter; five nieces, Keniya McCleary, Annika Davis and Alexis Carter, both of Sumter, and Mariah and Miracle DeJean, both of Atlanta; four grandnieces; two grandnephews; four aunts, Laura (Dewey) Turner, Pamela (Everett) Burk of Philadelphia, Jackie (Jack) Wilson and Barbara Walker of Sumter; two uncles, Dewitt (Hazel) Clark and Johnnie Mack of Sumter; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Mack was preceded in death by his stepfather, Albertus Anderson; and his brother, Arnold "Uncle" Mack III.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.
