Troy Brayboy Sr., 89, was born on July 29, 1929, in Williamsburg County, was the last child born to the late Melvin and Maggie Brayboy. Troy spent the latter years of his life at Carriage House in Sumter, where he was blessed with a host of healthcare providers and friends.

He transitioned from his earthly life on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, after an extended illness.

He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Annie Ruth Wilder Brayboy for 39 years. At an early age, he joined St. John United Methodist Church in Lake City, where he served faithfully in many capacities to include, but not limited to, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, chairperson of trustee, lay leader and business manager, until his health failed. After 35 years of faithful service, he retired from Suburban Propane Gas of Sumter. Additionally, he was a devoted volunteer at the O’Donnell House of Sumter as a transporter for Meals-On-Wheels for the elderly.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Troy “Budda” Brayboy Jr. of Pinewood and Melvin “Pokey” (Dr. Christola) Brayboy of Sumter; three daughters, Julia Ann Jackson, Johnnie Mae Brayboy and Ertha Denise “Neicy” (Larry) Epps, all of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of his daughter, Julia Ann Jackson, 36 Middle St., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John United Methodist Church,1653 Green Road, Lake City, with the Rev. Dr. Alfonso Porter, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 10 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery.
