Sumter United Ministries seek help for fair concession stand

The Lighthouse Grill concession stand, the only fundraiser run by Sumter United Ministries to build financial support for its cause, will be open for the season at the Sumter County Fairgrounds during the Sumter County Fair at the end of the month. The faith-based nonprofit that provides crisis assistance in everything from bill pay to medical needs to temporary shelter needs at least eight people per shift as servers and in the kitchen.

When: During the Sumter County Fair - Tuesday, Sept. 26-Friday, Sept. 28, 5-10 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Items needed to operate: Sauerkraut; Cheese Wiz; coffee; cold-brewed tea; sugar; coffee creamer; squeeze butter; gallon-sized jars of pickles; individual pack of condiments (ketchup, mustard and relish); paper products (napkins, paper towels, 10-inch Styrofoam plates, to-go containers); plastic utensils; (500-count boxes of forks and spoons); bleach; dish soap; 409 spray; 40-gallon garbage bags; and financial donations to help offset the items purchased by the ministry (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, chili and buns).
