Sumter Today: We give you a behind the scenes look at our newly established Local News Advisory Board

Posted

For Sumter to thrive, it needs all hands on deck working together.
From government and education to business, health care, arts and culture, advocacy, faith and everything in between, each organization, each community leader who stands up for the silences and ensures our children have access to the brightest future plays a role in whether our community grows or fades.
To help promote that vision, The Sumter Item has formed our first-ever Local News Advisory Board.
Made up of 24 members from across communities, organizations and departments, the board has now met twice and will continue to meet monthly on Zoom to help support robust local news and ensure we’re not letting stories go untold.
Let’s go behind the scenes of our June meeting to show you a little more about what we’re doing at The Sumter Item to protect and promote the region’s only daily source of local news.
