Sumter Police Department seeks help in locating burglary suspect

Sumter Police Department needs the community's help in locating a man who is suspected of taking $800 worth of yard equipment and other tools from Burgess Do-It Center on Dingle Street on June 23.

Michael Charles Rose, 41, of Council Street, is accused of taking a string trimmer, hammer drills and a push mower from the home improvement center after kicking in a plexiglass door of the business, according to a news release.

Rose, who has past convictions for burglary, is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 185 pounds, has brown eyes and is bald, states the release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-888-CRIME-SC. A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
