UPDATE 1:35 p.m.:
Sumter police officers are attempting to locate a man who may have information that could assist in two investigations involving firearms, one of which ended in the death of a 54-year-old man, Tuesday.
Investigators think Kalvin D. Epps, 21, of West Oakland Avenue, could have information that can help determine whether a fatal drive-by shooting and another shooting incident are connected, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.
Marcus Brown died from injuries he sustained when he was shot as a small, gray four-door vehicle passed by while he was sitting in his vehicle outside a family member’s house in the 300 block of South Salem Street about 10:15 p.m.
About one hour earlier, officers responded to the Silver Street area after gunfire was reportedly heard and a house was struck.
Anyone who knows where Kalvin Epps may be is asked to call Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.
