Sumter man facing sexual conduct with a minor charges escapes arrest

Sheriff's office thinks he could be in Sumter or Columbia area

A Sumter man facing charges of sexual conduct with a minor is wanted after he escaped an attempt to arrest him following a Family Court hearing last week.

John Paul Rogers, 38, who sometimes goes by his nickname, “Chaggo,” is wanted on charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and resisting arrest, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

His last known address is on Shirley P Drive in Sumter off Starks Ferry Road.

He is described as having black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5 feet and 10 inches and weighing 140 pounds.

Bell said Rogers could be in the Sumter or Columbia area.
