Sumter, Lee, Clarendon schools closed indefinitely starting Tuesday ahead of Hurricane Florence

Schools in the following counties, including Sumter, Lee and Clarendon, will be closed starting Tuesday, Sept. 11 until further notice in preparation of Hurricane Florence, which is expected to make landfall in southern North Carolina Thursday.

All athletics for public schools will not take place while schools are closed.

  • Sumter
  • Williamsburg

All Central Carolina Technical College campuses in Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties will be closed on Tuesday until further notice, according to Catherine Wood, public relations director for the college. The Kershaw County campus will operate on a regular schedule until futher notice.
