Sumter County man charged with stealing more than $800 worth of items

A man who allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of items from a storage building in September was arrested and booked at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center on Tuesday.

Jehrode W. Hodge, 31, of Robert Perry Road, is charged with petit larceny for allegedly entering a storage building in the 300 block of Wilson Street and taking $885 worth of items on Sept. 20, according to Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the detention center’s website, Hodge is also charged with assault and battery, first degree, though it is not stated if that charge is from the larceny incident.

A surety bond for the petit larceny charge is set at $5,000 and a surety bond for the assault and battery charge is set at $7,500.
