Sumter County Council to consider land transfer to BD

Sumter County Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in County Council Chambers, third floor of Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to consider:
• Third and final reading of an ordinance to amend portions of the county's flood damage prevention ordinance to adopt the Wateree Watershed Maps and Flood Insurance Study revisions that will go into effect on Sept. 28 and to update the ordinance to make corrections and clarifications noted in the 2017 South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Community Assistance Visit and Community Rating System Cycle Visit;
• Third reading of an ordinance to approve an intergovernmental loan agreement, to be secured by a mortgage, with the South Carolina Public Service Authority on 20 acres at the corner of North Wise Drive and Jefferson Road to construct a new spec building to attract a manufacturer to locate on the site. A public hearing will be held prior to council's vote;
• Third reading of five separate ordinances to transfer Ohana Circle, Forest Drive Cul-De-Sac, Alpenglow Court, part of Earle Street and part of Winston Road to the adjoining property owners;
• First reading of a request to authorize the transfer of property on Jefferson Road to Becton, Dickinson and Co.;
• First reading of an ordinance to authorize the appointment of code enforcement officers by resolution; and
• A request for council to consider the adoption of a resolution for Community Development Block Grant funding for the Shannontown neighborhood of Sumter County.
In other news, county council and Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis will recognize Cpl. Jeremy Shirely, and council will read a proclamation naming September 17-21, 2018, Constitution Week in the county.
Also, Sumter County Fiscal, Tax and Property Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. in County Council Conference Room to receive a briefing:
• On the resolution for Community Development Block Grant funding for the Shannontown neighborhood, included in council's regular meeting agenda, and possibly take action about the appropriation of funds;
• Concerning the transfer of property on Jefferson Road to BD; and
• Concerning the ordinance to appoint code enforcement officers by resolution.
