Sumter County Council to consider allowing elementary, secondary schools in commercial districts

Sumter County Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in County Council Chambers, Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to consider:

• Second reading, of three, for a request to rezone two parcels at 2800 Dock Road, totaling 2.45 acres, from general commercial and agricultural conservation to agricultural conservation. A public hearing will be held prior to council's vote;

• Second reading of a request to amend the county zoning and development ordinance to allow elementary and secondary schools as conditional uses in in professional office, neighborhood commercial, limited commercial and general commercial zoning districts. A public hearing will be held prior to council's vote;

• Second reading of a request to amend the county zoning and development ordinance to remove used motor vehicle parts as a permitted, conditional or special exception use in all county zoning districts except the heavy industrial district. A public hearing will be held prior to council's vote;

• Second reading of an ordinance to authorize the transfer of property on Jefferson Road to Becton, Dickinson and Co. A public hearing will be held prior to council's vote; and

• Second reading of an ordinance to authorize the appointment of code enforcement officers by resolution.

Sumter County Fiscal, Tax and Property Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. in County Council's Conference Room to receive a county financial update and hold an executive session to discuss a property matter.
