Sumter City Council to consider sale of 5 properties

Sumter City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in City Council Chambers, fourth floor of Sumter Opera House, 21 N. Main St., to consider:

- Final reading of an ordinance to authorize the future sale of five city-owned properties - 9 S. Main St., 11 S. Main St., 138 S. Main St., 146 S. Main St. and 150 S. Main St. - in the Central Business District of downtown Sumter;

- First reading of a request to rezone approximately .30 acres at 702 N. Main St. from residential-6 to neighborhood commercial. A public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. prior to council's vote;

- First reading of a request to amend portions of the city of Sumter Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance to adopt the Wateree Watershed Maps and Flood Insurance Study revisions that will go into effect on Sept. 28, and to update the ordinance to make corrections and clarifications noted in the 2017 South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Community Assistance Visit and the Community Rating System Cycle Visit.

Council will also receive a presentation from the Economic and Community Sustainability Department of Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments. A public hearing will be about held prior to council's vote; and

- A resolution to authorize the purchase of two new custom fire pumper trucks.
