Clarendon School District One will conduct free vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings as part of a child find effort to identify students ages 3-5, who may need special education services and are not enrolled in a public school. Screenings will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon at the Summerton Early Childhood Center, 8 South St., Summerton, on the following Tuesdays: today; Oct. 9; Nov. 13; Dec. 11; Jan. 8, 2019; Feb. 12, 2019; March 12, 2019; April 9, 2019; and May 14, 2019. The Sumter Combat Veterans Group will hold its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 15, at Crystal Lakes Golf Course, 1305 Clara Louise Kellogg Drive. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Registration fee is $50 per golfer limited to the first 40 teams. Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, souvenirs, cart, green fees and refreshments during play. Team format will be two-person Captain's Choice. There will be first- and second-place prizes for men's and women's teams, closest to the pin and longest drive. Raffle tickets for a La-Z-Boy recliner will be $2 each or three for $5. Lincoln High School will hold its third annual Little Miss Lincoln High School Pageant at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, in the cafeteria, 26 Council St.

The Knit and Stitch Sewing Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Wesmark branch of the Sumter County Library, 180 W. Wesmark Blvd. The group will meet every third Tuesday. If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch or any other sewing hobby, you are welcome to join us.

The 12th Annual Art in the Park will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Memorial Park.

A Mesothelioma Awareness Day will be held 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Canty Center, 627 Manning Ave. This event will feature face painting, a bounce house, games, vendors, food truck and silent auction.
