Rebecca "Becky" Burgess McFaddin, wife of Willie McFaddin, was born on Jan. 31, 1943, in Clarendon County, to the late James Burgess and Azalee Epps-Burgress. On April 25, 2018, the Lord called her from labor to reward at Harlem General Hospital in New York, New York.

"Becky" was educated in the Clarendon County school system and graduated from Walker Gamble High School in 1962. On July 7, 1962, she was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Willie McFaddin. Shortly after marriage, the couple relocated to New York and Becky decided to further her education. She enrolled in New York Community College, where she earned an associate degree in early childhood education. She then embarked upon a career working for many years with the New York City public school system as an elementary school teacher.

Becky's Christian journey began at Melina Presbyterian Church, Gable. Her journey continued at Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church, Manhattan, New York. Becky had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, the latest fashion, and had a fondness for the color red. She loved helping others, entertaining at her home, and spending time with her family and close friends. She was also a passionate animal lover, especially her dogs.

In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by three brothers, Jasper Burgess, Robert Burgess and Raymond Montgomery; and one sister, OlaLee Burgess.

Becky leaves to mourn her passing: her devoted husband of 56 years, Willie McFaddin; three sisters, Minnie Ford and Martha (James) Taylor of Sumter and Mary (David) Thomas of Lynchburg; four brothers, Willie Burgess, Alonzo (Cassandra) Burgess and Levern (Karen) Burgess, all of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Deacon Alphonso (Faye) Burgess of Bronx, New York; sister-in-law, Roberta Harrison; brother-in-law, Wesley McFaddin of New Zion; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. McFaddin will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, with the Rev. Theodora Black officiating and Deacon Alphonso Burgess, eulogist.

Interment will follow at Melina Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Gable.

The family will receive friends at 126 S. Main St., Mayesville.
