ELECTION 2018: Primary runoff election results for Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties

Results are coming in for Tuesday's primary runoff elections.  While there were 10 runoffs statewide (six for Republicans and four for Democrats), residents in Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties only had two options: deciding the Republican nominees for governor and attorney general.

The winners of today's voting will be the Republican nominees for their position in November. The candidate for governor will face James Smith, who won the Democratic nomination two weeks ago in the primaries, and American Party candidate Martin Barry. The candidate for attorney general will face Democrat Constance Anastopoulo.

According to the certified results reported in The Sumter Item on June 15, 4,347 of the 11,276 votes on June 12 were on the Republican ballot, representing 38.55 of the total vote in Sumter County.

Here are the results for the races affect  Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties:

Governor (Republican)

WINNER -- Henry McMaster (incumbent):  53.63% | 183,820 votes

John Warren: 46.37% | 158,921 votes

Attorney General (Republican)

Todd Atwater: 35.03% | 114,817 votes

Alan Wilson (incumbent): 64.97% | 212,983 votes

WINNER -- Henry McMaster (incumbent):  73.92% | 3,317 votes

John Warren: 26.08% | 1,170 votes

Attorney General (Republican)

Todd Atwater: 25.13% | 1,095 votes

Alan Wilson (incumbent): 74.87% |  3,263 votes
