Shanizue L. Taylor, 32, of 1140 Flamingo Road, and Dinnero L. McKnight, 25, of 30 Dant St., were arrested on July 27 and charged with first-degree burglary for allegedly taking cash, bracelets and a ring from a residence on Jessamine Trail that same day. According to a news release from Sumter Police Department, the homeowner noticed a vehicle in his driveway when he returned home after midnight and later saw the suspects fleeing the scene. Taylor and McKnight are also accused of breaking a window in order to enter the house. All of the items reported stolen were recovered.
Nikolas P. Mendoza, 19, of Persimmon Court, Shaw Air Force Base, was arrested on July 28 and charged with second-degree burglary for allegedly attempting to enter a residence, without consent, with the intent to commit a crime while in the 1000 block of Shoreland Drive in Sumter on June 1.
An air-conditioning unit, unknown make, valued at $4,000 was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 3500 block of Windham Road about 9:45 a.m. Monday.
A PlayStation 3 valued at $250; 30 PlayStation 3 games valued at $500; a TV, unknown make, valued at $300; two HP laptops valued at $500; $60 in cash; and prescription medication, unknown kind, valued at $100 were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 20 block of West Patricia Drive about 1:10 p.m. Monday.
An air-conditioning unit, unknown make, valued at $1,500 was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 1100 block of Gilbert Street about 3:10 p.m. Monday.
A blue generator, unknown make, valued at $600; two black tool bags containing approximately $500 in tools; and two DeWalt batteries valued at $200 were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 3800 block of Colony Circle between 1:30 and 7:40 p.m. Monday.
Five black-and-blue U-boat stocking carts valued at $500 were reportedly stolen from a store in the 4200 block of Camden Highway, Dalzell, about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Approximately $5,500 in damage was caused to a 2011 Dodge Charger when the back window was broken, all of the seats were cut, and the exterior was scratched while it was parked at South Sumter and Mary streets between 12:30 and 7:20 a.m. on July 28. The victim also reported that an Alpine radio valued at $200 was stolen from the vehicle, according to an incident report from Sumter Police Department.
A dark brown and tan Michael Kors purse valued at $375, two Toys-R-Us gift cards valued at $200, three iPads valued at $450, an Xbox One valued at $500 and a money order valued at $45 were reportedly stolen from a 2011 Toyota Camry while it was parked at a residence in the 50 block of Harry Avenue about 10:35 a.m. Sunday.
