Man charged with assault after allegedly holding gun to woman's head

Kevin M. Ardis, 33, of 1191 Lake Ashwood Road, was arrested on Monday and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature for allegedly assaulting a woman while in the 3900 block of Colony Circle on June 20. According to a news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Ardis allegedly body slammed the victim to the floor and put her in a choke hold while holding a gun to her head. Ardis also allegedly knocked a phone from the victim's hand, punched her in the face and put a knife to her throat when she attempted to use the phone.

STOLEN PROPERTY

A black Xbox One, with a missing power cord, and two wireless controllers valued at $500 were reportedly stolen from a residence in the 2200 block of Kolb Road between 2 and 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

A black 28-inch Vizio TV valued at $300 and a brown jewelry box containing miscellaneous pieces of costume jewelry valued at $500 was reportedly stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Carolyn Drive between 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Monday.

An undetermined amount of money was reportedly stolen from a restaurant in the 1000 block of Broad Street about 1 a.m. on Friday. According to a news release from Sumter Police Department, s suspect entered the business by unknown means, pried open the office door and took the money deposit bag.
